On a roll!
We have found our feet!! Reading rotations are going well. We have invested time filling our kete with a variety of different digital tools and skills to be able to work independently on meaningful reading tasks. Children are engaged in the taskboard, they know what tasks they need to complete and can work independently to complete these. Keeping an eye on their self managing is still important to ensure they are managing their time to have all tasks completed by the end of the week.
Working with Meryn has been great to upskill both the tamariki and myself with creating animations, Explain everything, imovie and scratch. Using the learn, create share model in our reading has been valuable. We revisit the independent tasks before reading begins. Children are able to give feedback to each other against the WALT and WILF which gives them clear direction on where to next. Children really enjoy sharing at the end of reading time, they are proud of their mahi, it is a time we all enjoy celebrating each other.
Not too much has changed in terms of our task board layout. We are continually adding new skills and tasks to our independent mahi. I am finding this is helping to keep the children engaged and on task during this time.
